Industrial coring at St. Ana Suction coring on the Muddy Bar Coring setup on Pesca bar

Coring uses a modified version of the Van-der-Staay suction corer to obtain sand deposits below the waterlevel. Retrieved cores are 60 mm in diameter and up to 5 m long. Epoxy peels are made from the core-halves and detailed logs are made of the sedimentary structures. Grain-size is measured using a Malvern laser particle sizer and standard sieving analyses.

  • Large-scale sets
  • Medium-scale sets
  • Extensive co-sets of small-scale sets
  • Very little silt/clay
  • Organic material
