Three-dimensional flow information was obtained using a 600 kHz RD Instruments broadband acoustic Doppler current profiler (aDCP). Five repeat transects were obtained for each of the 7 cross-sections in the 38 km reach. The aDCP was set to provide instantaneous 3-D velocity profiles at ~1 Hz. Boat velocities during the surveys were ~1.2 m s-1. For each of the sections, the velocity components and backscatter intensities information for the five transects were interpolated onto a 1 m2 regular transect grid. Primary and secondary flow vectors for each section were determined using the Dietrich and Smith (1983) zero cross-stream flux rotation.
